The Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA), led by
FAVA President Elect Dr. Harris Constantino and FAVA Treasurer Dr. Corazon Occidental, and PVMA President Dr. Lina Policarpio, together with its Philippine member organizations and partners, successfully conducted the 1st SINAG–ABONO Veterinary Medical Mission and Farmers’ Education Program in the Province of Pangasinan, Philippines on May 26–27, 2026.
The two-day initiative brought together veterinarians, farmers, government representatives, industry experts, and community leaders in a collaborative effort to promote animal health, responsible pet ownership, farmer education, and food security.
On Day 1, more than 500 farmers from the swine, poultry, and ruminant sectors participated in the Farmers’ Education Seminar held in Rosales and Sto. Tomas, Pangasinan. The seminar featured expert speakers from both the government and private sectors who shared valuable insights on livestock production, biosecurity, disease prevention, and sustainable farming practices.
Simultaneously, the Veterinary Medical Mission provided rabies vaccination, neutering, and veterinary services to over 250 dogs and cats, helping improve animal welfare and public health in the local communities.
On Day 2 in Villasis, Pangasinan, the veterinary team expanded its outreach and served more than 500 animals, including 245 spay and neuter procedures and 255 rabies vaccinations. The activity reinforced ongoing efforts to promote responsible pet ownership and support the Philippines’ goal of achieving a rabies-free nation.
The program was organized through the leadership of SINAG Chairman Rosendo O. So and ABONO Partylist Congressman Robert Raymond Estrella, with the support of the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA), Philippine Veterinary Drug and Nutrition Association (PVDNA), Philippine Veterinary Drug Foundation (PVDA Foundation), Philippine Animal Hospital Association (PAHA), National Federation of Hog Farmers (NatFed), and the
Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA).
This successful initiative demonstrated the power of multi-sectoral collaboration in advancing the One Health approach, strengthening rural communities, supporting farmers, improving animal welfare, and contributing to food security in the region.
FAVA congratulates all organizers, volunteers, speakers, donors, sponsors, and partner organizations whose dedication and commitment made this meaningful community service program a success.
