FMD global conference

Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations, FAVA and the Thai Veterinary Medical Association under Royal Patronage, TVMA welcomed Dr. Faouzi Kechrid , President of WVA in the FMD Global Conference, during 27-29 June, 2012 held in Bangkok, Thailand. And also celebrating 100 years of Veterinary Education (1912-2012) in Thailand with TVMA and all the Thai veterinarians.

FAVA Society News update

Dr.Shane Ryan, President of Singapore Veterinary Association (SVA) and Vice –President of FAVA attended VRVC 2012 during 13th -16th May , 2012 at Impact Forum, Thailand. He also visited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Achariya Sailasuta, Secretary general of FAVA at FAVA Secretariat office, in TVMA office, Phyathai, Bangkok and discussed on the FAVA plans as well as the promotion of 17thFAVA Congress, 4-6 January 2013, Taipei, Taiwan. During his stay, he visited Small Animal Teaching Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University , the photos with the clinicians in the Emergency Clinic and critical care unit. This trip is very constructive and benefit for FAVA.

Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA)

Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA), a Special Interest Group of the Australian Veterinary Association(AVA), is now launching its inaugural On-line Continuing Education. The first Webinar is on 29th November, with the presenter being Dr Todd Booth, who was the Director of the Equine Hospital at Edinburgh University for six years. Dr Booth is an excellent presenter, and this topic is very popular. The Webinar flier is attached, customised for a potential audience in Asia.

Dr Todd Booth qualified from UQ in 1989 and then worked in mixed species and equine practice in Australia before an internship in Equine surgery at Murdoch University in 1994. After 2 years travelling he took on a specialist equine surgery-training program and Masters degree at Liverpool University. He moved to Edinburgh University in 2000 where he became senior lecturer and Director of the Equine hospital. In 2006 he joined Morphettville Equine Clinic as a surgeon and director. Todd has published in both refereed journals and textbooks and his particular interest is in equine surgery and lameness. Todd has further postgraduate qualifications in Equine surgery, orthopaedics and business management and is an Australian, European and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Surgery.

FAVA officers, Dr. Chiang Johnson, President, Dr. Pratuang Sudsakorn, Vice President and Dr. Achariya Sailasuta, Secretary General, participate the 30th World Veterinary Congress 2011, 10-14 October 2011, Cape Town International Convention Center, South Africa. We congratulate to the new president of WVA, Dr. Fuouzi kechrid from Tunisia, Dr. Chiang Johnson, FAVA’s president from Taiwan, was elected to be the vice president of WVA and Dr. Achariya Sailasuta, FAVA’s Secretary General from Thailand and Dr Kim–OK-Kyung from Korea were elected to be the councilors representative for East Asia and Oceania. In this Congress, the 2011 World Veterinary Year was closed with a great success by Dr. Tjeerd Jorna, Past President of WVA on 14th October 2011.

The World Veterinary Congress 2017 will be in Korea, hosted by KVMA. Congratulation to KVMA, on behalf of the Veterinarian in Asia.

Congratulate to Myanmar Veterinary Association

FAVA extend our heartfelt congratulate to Myanmar Veterinary Association (MVA), Dr. Aung Gyi, President of MVA was the winner of the World Veterinary Day Award 2011 from OIE Director General, Dr. B. Vallet and Dr. Tjeerd Jorna, the WVA President in the Closing ceremony of 30th WVC, on 14th October 2011. The theme of this year was “One World, One Health”.

The 5th Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology meeting

The 5th Asian Society of Veterinary Pathology (ASVP) meeting will be conducted as a Joint Meeting with the 10th Scientific Symposium of The Indonesia Society of Veterinary Pathology (ISVP) 2011 and will be held on November 22nd – 24th, 2011 at IPB International Convention Center, Bogor – Indonesia.

International Seminar 2011 in Surabaya

Dr. Achariya Sailasuta FAVA Secretary General and TVMA president, participated the International Seminar and 2nd SEAVSA Congress , during 20-24 June 2011 hosted by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Air langga, Surabaya, Indonesia. In the meeting, FAVA presented the lecture entitled Harmonization on the Veterinary Education on Food Safety and Security to FAVA Strategy plan 2010-2015, the meeting was a successfully one and benefit to the Veterinary Education in South East Asia Region.
